This is a DiscontinuedProject. It has been finished and is in a stable state now. Currently, no effort is made for further work here.
Just a very small hack to my Canon EOS 10D digital camera: It uses a strange connector for a cable shutter release, for which I have bought the respective cable release attachment -- I just want to cut the cable for that and put a 3.5mm TRS stereo connector in the middle. This way, I can have a more standard way of attaching other homebrewn release devices (timers, remote controls, ...).
I want to use the contact assignments according to the connector used e.g. on EOS 300D, for compatibility reasons with possible future cameras -- though that one uses a 2.5mm connector:
